Societe Generale Private Banking Belgique

Sociéte Générale Private Banking, formerly a brokerage house established in 1927 and which, since 1996, has enjoyed the official status of bank, offers services including the execution of Stock exchange orders (16th market player on Euronext Brussels), advisory and discretionary portfolio management. Societe Generale Private Banking has a network of fifteen offices located in the Flemish region and in Brussels, and at the end of 2007 it managed more than € 7 bn in client assets.

Belgium - a country with long merchant and financial tradition

Few countries can claim to have so many historic cities in such a small area (32,545 sq km). In the Middle Ages, the Dutch-speaking cities of Flanders grew rich from the textile trade and attracted merchants, scholars and artists from all over Europe. In the 14th century, the bourse of Bruges governed exchange rates in all of Northern Europe; the Van der Beurse family gave their name to an institution - the “bourse,” or Stock exchange.

Belgium is a founding member of the EU, and Brussels houses several of its main institutions and is the home of many expatriates. A vast number of ‘NederBelgen’ have moved from the Netherlands to the Antwerp region.

The clients of Societe Generale Private Banking benefit from a personal relationship built on confidence and durability, objective investment advice and services covering financial engineering. In addition, the bank’s price schedules are clear and competitive.

The acquisition of SG Bank de Maertelaere in October 2001 meets the objective of further expansion of the Societe Generale Private Banking business line on European on-shore markets.

SG Bank de Maertelaere also has offices in Aalst, Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Tournai, Hasselt, Knokke-Heist, Kortrijk, Leuven, Lier, Oostmalle, Oudenaarde, Roeselare and Namur.
